solid foods

5/15/08

Emmaleigh is going to be 9 months old on Monday. I Thought she may be ready for solids. I have been planning for a few months. I got her a high chair a few months back. I order her some stuff to make her homemade baby food. We'll the past few days I been feeling she was ready. The doctor gave me the green light if I wanted to try them. She has been chewing the air I guess coping off of us so I thought that was a sure sign. I yo-yo around about starting and what to start with. I decided on sweet potatoes. I cooked it and mashed it up and made enough for 8 feedings, 7 more after tonight and put the rest in the freezer. I tasted it actually tasted good. I nursed her a while before not right before but a little while before. She was happy in her new chair that daddy put together tonight. The food thing didn't go over well she smiled and pushed it back at me with her tounge time and time again I even put some on the tray to see if she would put it in her mouth. She didn't she slapped at it, played it, laughed at it, spit it out, but didn't eat it. I put it in her mouth time and time again but she wouldn't eat it. I got her out her chair cleaned her up and she snuggled under my shirt and nursed herself to sleep pure bliss for her. I don't think she is ready just yet. I knew she was doing well gaining weight and developing well. I guess it's not broke so don't fix it. At last I tried. I just kept feeling she was soo big even though she was doing well I thought i should at least offer. They were times we were out and about eating and i felt bad for her not having what food while we were eating so I tried she could careless. You can lead a horse to water but can't make it drink so we tried it was more of a mess than anything, but at least we tried

she is a doll!! This is how Bradley was at first. They really don't know what to do w/ it so it takes time for them to get use to it and realize what you're suppose to do w/ it :)#3 Comment from momlibbe | Email momlibbe

Her being willing to touch and play with it is a good sign in my book! Within a couple months, she'll probably want to swallow some.#2 Comment from jennabugg0930 | Email jennabugg0930
